I have been in IT all my professional live but my trajectory has been anything but linear. It has spanned many different fields, from pure hardware to pure software and a few in between.
My first job in the tech industry was as a PC Maintenance teacher in London, followed by positions in desktop support, and network administrator and support engineer. After moving to Scotland and starting a family, I taught myself web development and set up as a freelancer, working mainly with WordPress.
In January 2019, feeling ready for a new challenge, I joined the CodeClan full time Professional Software Development course. Quite soon after finishing the course, I stopped freelancing and got my first job as a full-stack software engineer.
And here I am!
Other great and fun experiences have been organising the WordPress Glasgow meetup from 2018 until 2020, volunteering as a classroom assistant at CodeYourFuture Scotland, and currently helping out in the Scottish Ruby User Group. All have been and are fantastic ways to meet and learn from brilliant, inspirational people.
