This site is both a platform to highlight my current pet projects, a few random technical articles, some general thoughts on the world of tech and my musings on collaboration, community building, breaking stereotypes and inclusion. Not necessarily in that order.
A bit about myself
Let me get this out of the way: I have been in IT all my professional live but my trajectory has been hap-hazard. I’ve worked in many different fields, from pure hardware to pure software and a few in between.
First, as a PC Maintenance teacher in London, followed by positions as a desktop support and network support engineer and, after moving to Scotland and starting a family, as a freelance web developer, working mainly with WordPress.
In January 2019, feeling ready for a new challenge, I joined the CodeClan full time Professional Software Development course and, quite soon after finishing it, I stopped freelancing and got my first job as a full-stack software engineer.
Other great experiences that I’d recommend anyone who is looking to expand their horizon is to get involved in a local tech meetup or voluntary organisation. I started and helped organise the WordPress Glasgow meetup and volunteered as a classroom assistant at CodeYourFuture Scotland, both for a couple of years. Both fantastic ways to meet and learn from brilliant, inspirational people.
